If you follow above 7 steps you should be able to find a web development agentcy that should be able to design you a good website. There are always exceptions though. If we are to list a more detailed list of screaning bullet points it’ll be well over 60 items long.

1. Make sure that company has a solid reputation (You-Tube channel, Facebook page…) are active and there are good reviews.
2. Check out their portfolio page and insist that they include your website into their portfolio before they start building a website for you.
3. Make sure that they follow 4 step process (Discovery Call -> Wireframing -> Graphic Design -> Development). This is low rist process and you can stop at any time.
4. 50% deposit is standard. Make sure that you are not paying anything more than 50%. See if you can negotiate partial smaller payments for each stage of the design process.
5. Make sure you have a reliable phone number of a developer or a project manager that you can reah at and that they return your email / phone the next busienss day at the latest.
6. Ask if you can chat to their existing clients. Review refferences provided to ensure that the websites are real and that refferals are real.
7. Insist that they use Advanced Custom Fields as a foundation for all of the content structuring on your website. Basic companies that use visual builders don’t know how WordPress is structured and they won’t be able to work with commercial grade high end plugin such as Advanced Custom Fields.
